How do I have a separate table of contents
for an appendix without it appearing in the
MAIN table of contents and without the MAIN
table appearing there?

For any TOC, you can select the number of levels to be displayed, and then
you can assign levels 1, 2, 3, etc., to specific styles. If you use
different heading styles for the headings in the Appendix, then you can
select the headings you want to appear in your main TOC and the (different)
headings you want to appear in the Appendix TOC.

Had tried Master Docs and Sub Documents but it DIDN'T work.

Decieving Word (as I see it) DOES work ... so I'm using Various Headers in
the appendicies to appear like 2nd & 3rd headers when they're actually 5th
and 6th headers ... GREAT!

Many thanks for your help!

This might be more work than you'd like, but you could handcraft
toc-entry fields in the appendix (as in {TC "<heading>" \f "x"}, then
insert a TOC field at the start of the appendix that pulls in only the
TC fields you marked with "x" (or whatever label you choose), as in {TOC
\f "x"}.

I didn't check the online help for the TC and TOC fields, but I think
it's pretty close.

Good luck.

Hi FlashFlood,

Here's another method:

Select each section of the document for which you want a different TOC
and use Insert/Bookmark to bookmark it.

Create a TOC the usual way. Press Alt+F9 to display the field codes. At
the end of the field insert the switch: \b Bookmark

Alt+F9 again to hide the field, then F9 to update it. The field's
results should be limited to what's in the bookmarked range.
