The calls features are only available in WhatsApp native Desktop app 64-bit(Which the official website show that only Mac and window native app for desktop are available ), not in WhatsApp Web,and unfortunately they haven't developed the native app for Linux. The one which we are installing and using from Ubuntu-Software is Web version. That's why the call feature is not available in that.

Signal is made with the help of the original WhatsApp-Developer and it is much better. You have better voice quality if you call someone, you have Video-call integrated in the desktop-App and everything what you have with the phone-App. You can send pictures with original quality, they will not be converted down if you do not want it.

I know i can run Whatsapp Web and Whatsapp Desktop, but the web's notification it's kinda useless if i miss it because i will have to keep checking on the Tab, i have my personal phone and a work phone so i would like to have both on Whatsapp Desktop, so if i get a new message i'll get the red icon with numbers on the taskbar and not in the browser's tab.

Last week, Facebook-owned WhatsApp released a desktop app version of their popular messaging service for both Windows and Mac users. The WhatsApp desktop app has now also received the functionality to share files, a feature that rolled out to iOS and Android users on the WhatsApp mobile app in March.

To send a document to a WhatsApp contact on your desktop, click the paperclip icon found in the top right-hand corner. In the drop-down menu, you will see options to share a photo or video, take a photo using the webcam and lastly share a document. Click on Document > select the file you want to share.

Supported file options include PDFs and Office documents, like PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, etc. Sharing documents on the mobile versions of WhatsApp is limited to 100 MB, so there is likely to be similar limitations on the desktop app and web versions of WhatsApp.

Hi Everyone,Is there any way that I can stop file attachments from WhatsApp web and WhatsApp desktop on company laptops with Intune? or using any desktop security features from O365?Thanks & best regards,LonLee

WhatsApp has made itself available on desktop before, through a web client called WhatsApp Web. The company launched that service in January 2015, initially for Android and Windows Phone users, before adding support for iOS users as well.

But its new desktop apps offer more native support, the ability to use keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to have messages open in a separate window as opposed to being in a browser or lost in a sea of tabs.

There have been several desktop apps in the past that have acted as wrappers for the browser plugins, such as ChitChat for Mac OS X, but this is the first time that Facebook-owned WhatsApp is providing its own native desktop solution.

Some offices for instance will use it as a means to chat between work mates about where to go for lunch, whereas more formal implementations abound, such as the diamond ring retailer in London that uses WhatsApp (and till now its desktop web client) to communicate with customers. Politicians in India have used WhatsApp to launch carry out their election campaigns.

WhatsApp is the great conqueror of message applications, especially with its flawless cross-platform group chat system. The best part? You can also use the WhatsApp desktop app right in Shift. Having a messaging platform on your computer can also make all of the difference. Instead of running to your phone every time you get a message, it can be read without leaving your workstation.

I have disabled battery optimization for Whatsapp on my phone, and I am not running any kind of battery saving app or setting. This issue persists on 4G and Wifi connections, both of which are stable and fast. I have no data caps, and I've enabled Whatsapp to work in background and have enabled limitless data for it.

I suspect the issue lies somewhere with how (or if) the phone drops connections after some time of not being used. The connection returns after I turn the phone screen back on and open Whatsapp. I dont know how to fix this, how to force the phone to listen all the time. Maybe possible with Tasker or the equivalent app?

The company said that from today, it will let people add in a fingerprint, face, or iris scan to use WhatsApp on desktop or web by linking it to your mobile app, to be used alongside the existing QR code authentication.

For a long time, WhatsApp was only limited to use via smartphone. In the meantime, the messenger service has begun offering practical web and desktop versions. This means you can easily synchronize your WhatsApp account via your browser or desktop, write messages with the keyboard, and finally put your phone aside. However, if you are looking for the PC version of WhatsApp, you will quickly discover that there are two versions: WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop.

The web version works in any browser variant, but the desktop version only works with WhatsApp for Mac and for Windows (as of February 2022). Although both versions are almost identical in appearance and in features, there is one important difference: In the web version, there is no video conference feature. So stick to the desktop version WhatsApp for PC to make one-on-one video calls. WhatsApp group calls by video are not currently available in either version (as of February 2022).

Step 3: Once the QR code has been scanned, your WhatsApp account on your smartphone and the desktop app will sync up. Your contacts, chats, media, and settings will now be available on the PC as well.

Step 4: Also in the desktop version, only a WhatsApp web video call is currently available for one-on-one chats. Select the contact you want to start the video call with and click the camera icon at the top of the chat window.
