Hello,
I use word 2007, when creating a new table from
insert->table->insert table, there is an item called AutoFit Behavior
under which there is three selections: (Fixed column width, AutoFit to
content, AutoFit to window). After creating the table, when you right
click the table or a cell you find that there is also an item called
AutoFit that opens three selections: (AutoFit to contents, AutoFit to
window, Fixed column width). what is the function of every item and what
is the difference between them?
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thank you

AutoFit to Contents clears any width settings for table columns and adjusts
the width based on cell content.

AutoFit to Window sets a percentage width (100%) which means that the table
width adjusts to the width of the container it is in (page, text box, etc.).
Relative column widths are preserved. You can modify the widths in the Table
Properties dialog box.

Fixed Column Width sets a fixed with for each column and clears the
"Automatically resize to fit contents" option in the Table Options dialog
box. You can modify the widths in the Table Properties dialog box.

Hi,

the three options provide these informations:

1) AutoFit to contents: You can adjust the table dimension on contents
2) AutoFit to window: You can adjust the table dimension on the sheet
dimension
3) Fixed Column Width: Word won't automatically change the column widths
when the table is moved or otherwise altered, but you can still change
them
