In Word 2000, the text color is not being replicated in
the Table of Contents. Background colors work fine. Does
anyone know of a fix?

Is the color part of the TOC styles? Or applied to the headings as direct
formatting?

I believe that it is supposed to be direct formatting. I
use various colors for each heading right in the document,
not just one color per heading style. It worked fine in
the previous version of Word.

I would expect it to be picked up by the TOC, then, but who knows? I find
that in Word 2002 the colors are picked up for the entry itself (the leader
dots and page number remain black). Wait a minute . . . Bingo! If I create
the TOC not hyperlinked (clear the box for "Use hyperlinks instead of page
numbers" or delete the \h switch from the TOC field code), the colors are
preserved. If I allow Word to hyperlink it, the entries are all black. So
that's the answer: delete the \h switch from the field code, update the TOC,
and see what happens.
