2000 Proofing tool and Office 97

Hello all,

Our company uses Office97 (english) and Outlook 2000(english), we want to
add German and French proofing capability to those applications. According
to Microsoft the 97 proofing tools are out of production and the Office2000
proofing tools don't work with Office 97. (so they say: just upgrade all of
your office applications and buy the office2000 proofing tools, how
convenient for them!)

I've just installed a 2000 Proofing tool on my system and found out that
French (in contrast what Microsoft says) works perfectly within my Word97.
German however will not work outside my Outlook2000. When installing the
Proofing tools I noticed that French was listed under "Proofing tools
(French)" and the German was listed as: "Microsoft office (German)".

Does somebody now why the French spellingcheck works perfectly under W97 and
the Geman doesn't and how to fix this if possible.
