Parts of protected forms will be marked like this.

This is a "language" setting which works like a part of character
formatting.

Do the following with a _COPY_ of your document:

Try using the Replace feature. Click on the More button and when your cursor
is in the Find What box, click on the Format button to Language. Check the
box that tells Word to skip when spell checking. Click on OK or close. It
should read "No Proofing" under the box. Tab to the Replace With box and use
Format => Language... to have the box unchecked. Click on OK or close. It
should read "Proof Text" under the replace with box. Click on Replace All.

Hope this helps,

Check the Style settings. For the text that is not spell
checking:

Modify the Style
Format
Language

Hope this helps!
