Hi,

I am using Office 2000 Premium and I would like to use an English and German
Spell checker.
I have a German Version of Office also but I don't want to install the
German Version. I only want the English one with the English and German
Spell checker.

My question. What is the best way to get Office to spell check in German and
English ?

If I really need the Office 2000 Proofing Tools (I hope not because they
cost so much) is there any third party software that would do the same in
all Office application or better, all applications period ?

I need help/suggestions.

Thanks so much,

Claus

Install the English version, and download the German spell-checker from
Microsoft's German subsidiary website. That site is www.microsoft.de but I don't
have the download link.

Actually they're *extremely* cheap - third parties will often charge $800 or so
per language.

Then you must already have had the German spell-checker DLL installed...

Hi Samuel,

In general, if you stick a *.lex file *for spellcheck* (not the other
proofing functionality) into your Proof folder, then go to Word and format
some text with this language, and F7 to force the spell check... Word will
recognize and register the *.lex file correctly. No additional extra dll
needed in earlier versions of Word (prior to 2002)?
