Word keeps reverting to "do not check spelling or grammar"

On a particular Word 2003 file, the setting under Tools > Language > Set
Language keeps reverting to "Do not check spelling or grammar". I have
selected the entire document and deselected this option many times, done this
invididually for sections of text as well, closed/reopened the file and Word,
checked all the usual places. I've read all the threads and don't find this
particular problem mentioned. I don't have this problem on other files. Any
help?

I am a college student and this spell check problem drove me nuts when
writing my papers for school. I think I have found the problem, in Word go
to review and click on thesaurus when this comes up look at the bottom of
the window and see if Do not check spelling or grammar is checked, if it is
remove the check and then click on default. this should correct the problem.
However, you will have to do this to every document that you saved with the
spell check problem. I have done this and my spell checker is working fine
now. "SO FAR" Hope this helps.
