We recently installed Office 97 onto our computer network. In Word 97 the
spell checker always defaults to the English (US) language whenever I close
down Word and re-open it, even though I keep changing this to English
(Australian).

If anyone knows how to fix this, please let us know!

Did you change Language to Australian in Normal.dot? Change regional
settings and keyboard settings in
Control Panel to Australian.

I have the same problem. I'm trying to change it to English
(Canadian) and get the same result you are. I've tried English (UK)
as well - no luck. Maybe some of the Brits out there can tell us how
they do it. Better yet, why doesn't Microsoft solve this problem????

Listen Guys its easy.
Change the keyboard to English (australian) setting. Then go tools, language, set
language and choose Australian then hit the default key. you will also need the
dictonary file for Australia it is called MSSP2_EA.LEX in your c:\prog
files\common files\microsoft shared\Proof directory. I can email if you don't
have
regs Jason
ps: I'm a Britt in OZ - go figure:)
