Followed directions from
www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/graphics_on_labels.htm
A) have no option in Tools so that autoshapes automatically get a text box.
B) Created my autotext - logo graphics. Tried several ways:
-With a text box - Autotext didn't see it.
-Without a textbox - In Autotext selection menu
& this works - but only in a document, not
in MailMerge.

This is the info I have for MailMerge
{ Autotext Logo1 }
«Contact1»
«AgencyName1»
«AgencyName2»
«Address1»
«Address2»
«City», «State» «ZipCode»
{ Autotext Add }
Tried the Autotext entries (Logo1) with and without quotation marks.
Refreshing the document after merge doesn't show any of the AutoText
information.
HELP!

You have not read the article very closely :-(

This specifically refers to Word 2002 as indicated in the text.
> B) Created my autotext - logo graphics. Tried several ways:
You have to place the text box first then put the graphic in the box,
inserted in-line with text, then save box and the graphic it contains as an
autotext entry.

I take it there is room on the label for both your field contents and the
autotext entries (the text bit incidentally should not be in a text box -
and would probably be better entered directly from the keyboard)?

Test the autotexts in a plain non-merge document to ensure they display
correctly before attempting to put them on labels.

Question on your one statement. I did/do take a text box and insert my
picture (logo), you then state "inserted in-line with text", save box and
the graphic it contains as an autotext entry. I take a textbox and insert
picture and save as autotext. The logo shows up in the Autotext options
just fine - but the logo or textbox doesn't come through on the merge. Is
it the "inserted in-line with text" what's stopping me?
'Bout ready to just insert each logo or preprint my labels w/logo. But it
really would be so much smoother if the logo were Autoinserted during merge.
Thank you for your help.

Both the text box *and* the graphic contained in it must be saved as an
autotext entry. If you are not careful you can select one but not the other.
If you type the autotext name and press F3 in a document, do you get the
text box and graphic?
Once you have that written in stone, you can use the autotext field in your
merge source document as part of the label definition. Merge to a new
document, then select all (CTRL+A) and F9 to update. This should reveal the
images if they weren't previously showing.
The alternative is to place the image and text box in the second cell of the
merge document. Copy the contents of that cell and paste into the rest of
the cells on that page, then remove the {next} field from the first cell.
