The convention for portrait pages (recto or verso) is top to the left and
bottom to the right. This permits you to rotate a document in just one
direction to view, for example, landscape tables that continue for more than
one page. Some printers reverse this orientation, which is a problem if they
also duplex. There may be a setting in the printer driver (Properties),
however, to change this.

Thanks for the feedback, but still haven't found a way to make the landscape
pages print with the right orientation.

Using an HP 7110 all-in-one printer which has a manual duplex mode, and none
of the properties or printer setup features seem to permit reorienting the
offending landscape pages.

It puzzles me that I recall printing a rather large portrait oriented
document with inserted excel spreadsheet rosters in landscape mode a year or
so ago and they printed head to foot just fine...

I think my answer was somewhat at cross-purposes, too. If you can't find a
setting in your printer Properties to change this, you might see if you can
find a different driver for the printer. I noticed that the orientation of
landscape pages changed when I updated the driver for one of the printers I
used to have. The printer I currently have, when the duplex option is
selected, has a choice of "Long side" and "Short side." It may be that
changing "Long side" to "Short side" will make matters worse, however. For
manual duplexing, however, you may just need to rotate the relevant pages
before printing the second side.

I struggled with this knotty problem for hours and spend some time with the
HP support group as well.

In the end, the solution was not obvious. By Trial and Error, I figured out
tha selecting the HP 7110's two sided "Tablet" mode instead of "Portrait"
resulted in printing both the portrait and landscape modes so they coudl be
bound and read normally....

Yes, "Tablet" would be the equivalent of "Short side." The preview pictures
in my HP 6122 Properties dialog illustrate that pretty clearly, but I wasn't
sure how it might affect the duplexing of the portrait pages.
