How do I create a photo mount sheet in Word?

I would like to create a photo mount sheet that would have boxes for 3 photos
on the left of the pabe (3"x5") and be able to add text to the right of each
photo.
Would also be nice to have each photo numbered.

Use a table. Fix the width of the left column to the required width of the
photos.

Thank you, Graham ! That worked fine, but now I have a problem. When I insert
a photo into the table borders, the photo fills half the page. Is there any
way I could create a frame for the picture so that it inserts inside the
frame?

I think you missed out the part where you need to set a specific column
width and/or row height for the picture cells.

The key is to set up the table and in the table properties options- UNCHECK
"Auto resize to fit contents". That did the trick !
