that feature works the same way as with portrait pages (at least in my
copy of Word 97).
Now, if you are talking about a document generally laid out in portrait
style with mirrored margins, with a landscape section in it, the answer
is: the Word-programmers think you are setting up a book here and hence
simply flips the margins from inside/outside to top and bottom in that
case (I guess it works the same way with a portrait section in a
generally landscape/mirrored margins document). Makes sense to me, since
if you have an inside margin where you don't want to print in, this
actually WILL be the top/bottom margin in the landscape section.
[It would make a lot of sense if they have means to flip the
header/footer area, too, but that's another story :-(!!]
