It works fine in Word 2002 (Word XP), but it did not work in Word 2000.

This Microsoft article documents that:
WD2000: Mirror Margins Are Not Printed in Sections of Document
Formatted as Landscape

Hi Dimitriy,

that feature works the same way as with portrait pages (at least in my
copy of Word 97).

Now, if you are talking about a document generally laid out in portrait
style with mirrored margins, with a landscape section in it, the answer
is: the Word-programmers think you are setting up a book here and hence
simply flips the margins from inside/outside to top and bottom in that
case (I guess it works the same way with a portrait section in a
generally landscape/mirrored margins document). Makes sense to me, since
if you have an inside margin where you don't want to print in, this
actually WILL be the top/bottom margin in the landscape section.

[It would make a lot of sense if they have means to flip the
header/footer area, too, but that's another story :-(!!]

Hello
How to make the word 2002 place an inside margin at a landscape page top, at
a next landscape page bottom and at a third landscape page top? How to make
the word 2002 alternate an inside margin at a landscape page top with an
inside margin at a landscape page bottom?
How to make the word 2002 alternate a page number at landscape page bottom
with a page number at landscape page top?

It would work if the top of a landscape page were always the "inside" (as
Page Setup shows), but since that's not the convention in publishing, it
doesn't work. Evidently someone needs to explain this to Microsoft.

There is no way in current versions of Word short of making a new section
for each page and changing the margins manually. Sorry.

One sheet pages inside margins are not at the same sheet side since the word
2002 does not place an inside margin at a landscape page top and at a next
landscape page bottom. Both pages inside margins of a sheet are not at the
same sheet side since the word 2002 does not alternate an inside margin at a
landscape page top with an inside margin at a landscape page bottom.
Page numbers are not at a landscape page outside margin always since the
word 2002 does not alternate a page number at landscape page bottom with a
page number at landscape page top.

Dmitriy, I think I have plainly demonstrated that I understand the problem.
And I am telling you that the only way to work around this problem in
current versions of Word is to insert a section break between every two
landscape pages and manually change the margins (and swap headers/footers if
desired, though I would think you'd want portrait headers/footers).
Restating the problem is not going to change anything.
