I have a Word 2000 document that has pleading line numbers on the left
of each page. The same document also has a firm name on the lower
left of each page.

How do I remove the line numbers?

How do I remove the firm name?

Thanks for any help.

(I don't know how the document was created, but I've tried creating a
document with the Pleading Wizard, and after the line numbers are
created (which look just like the ones in the existing document), I
can't figure out to remove them. File/Page Setup/Layout/Line Numbers
does NOT have the Add Line Numbering box checked.)

P.S. I'm not sure if one of these newsgroups is the right one to post
this to; if I should have posted it somewhere else, please tell me.

The Pleading Wizard does not use Word's built-in line numbering. Instead it
uses numbers in a text box anchored to the header paragraph. I'd be willing
to bet that's what you're dealing with here as well. The firm name may be in
the footer itself or may be in a text box anchored to the footer. In either
case, you'll have to use View | Header and Footer to get access to the
header and footer panes and deal with (delete) these items.

Thanks, that worked!

I had looked at the header and footer, but when I saw that they were
"empty," I stopped looking. When I looked again after your comment, I
realized that the line numbers and the firm name were no longer dim,
and I was able to get at them and remove them.

Thanks again.
