Hi,

Thanks for the answers, guys. But... I know this is a stupid question, but I
couldn't get SEQ field to work. Word said I didn't define any bookmark
(Error! Bookmark not defined).

I chose Insert -> Field -> Categories = Numbering -> Field Names =Seq. I
clicked Options..., but I didn't know how to add bookmark to the code. I
know, the format is SEQ identifier [bookmark] [switches]. But what bookmark
should I add to the code? The buttons in Bookmark tab are disabled!

This was what I wrote for the field code:

SEQ Eq III.\* Arabic

I thought the result would be like this:

Eq III.1

Eq III.2

etc.

Please help...

Thanks again!

Chen Kang.

What your SEQ field is missing is a sequence identifier. This is how it
tells which list a given number is part of. In this case, you need an
equation sequence, so you can call it "equation" or "EQ." The way you wrote
it, it's probably interpreting "Eq" as the identifier and then trying to
interpret "III." as a bookmark (which is indeed not defined).

Although it is possible to format the number to have some text (Eq III.)
attached to it, you'll have to explore the Help files and experiment some
more to figure out how to do this. Since it appears that you're restarting
equation numbering with each chapter, what you need to do is add a STYLEREF
or some other kind of cross reference to your chapter number for the first
part of your sequence. The example in the Help article on SEQ fields may be
helpful there. You'll also need to format the SEQ field of the first
equation in each chapter with the \r 1 switch to restart numbering.

Note, too, that the \*arabic switch is probably unnecessary, as I believe
that that is the default.
