I am trying to set up a letterhead for a non-profit
organization that has an advisory board of say 30 names.
I want to have these names appear on the left side of the
first page text, similar to a law office letterhead with
names of the attorneys outside to the left of the first
page left margin.

What I need is a way to make a similar item as a header
of footer but instead of being on the top or bottom of
the first page I want it to be on the left side, outside
of the first page margin.

The problems are several:

1.the text fo the letter that overflows from the first
page onto the second page ends up on the left side of
page two(where the side bar list of names would have
appeared on the first page).

2. I have been using a work around that is highly
inefficient----I have to use two seperate documents, one
for the first page and a seperate for the subsequent
pages of the letter. I know there has to be a way to
have Word print the list of names on the left side(left
of the left margin on page one only)and the margins for
page two and subsequent pages set up normally(without a
sidebar list of names).

I am on a time constraint and would appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Use a "First page" header with a TextBox 'anchored" in the header that is
the shape and located as you want it.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a consulting basis.

Hope this helps

This promblem has been faced by others before you and solved. You do use the
header (or footer) set to "different first page". In the first page header
or footer insert a textbox along the left margin to hold your information.
Right-click on the edge of the textbox to format it. Set text to wrap around
it and by clicking the advanced button lock anchor it to the top and side of
the page. See the textbox and styles tutorial at <URL:
http://addbalance.com/word/download.htm>. You may want to download and
review the other letterhead items while you are there. Also, do review
Suzanne's site.
