I am getting a strange problem for the 1st time in Office
XP Word.

I start a new document with default oriention of Portrait
and paper size of A4 etc.

I go straight into Page Set up/Margins and change the
oriention to Landscape leaving everything else the same.

The default margins are 3.17cm for top and bottom &
2.54cm for left and right.

When I OK, I am prompted by Word to auto Fix Margins
since one or more outside printable area. If I say OK it
makes the Right margin 9.04 cm!

What is happening? - the document has nothing in it yet?

Thanks,
Andy.

HP LaserJet? This is an HP driver bug. HP may have a beta driver available
now that fixes this problem.

Thanks Terry - nice deduction - I do have an HP Laserjet
K60 - I will look for driver updates at HP.

I access the printer via a home network and when the
problem happened, the PC controlling that printer was
sitched off. When I booted it up, the problem went away.

I still find this strange because I would expect my PC to
use a local driver which I copied via my network so
switching the other PC on (which controls that printer)
should not have made any difference should it?

Thanks,
Andy

In case you don't find the drivers by wandering around, try here:

I wonder where the 'pond' bit came from!

The subliminal effect on me was that these drivers came from "across the
pond," i.e., the UK. Or I could have gotten that impression from the first
line in the description on that page: "These are English Beta drivers." I
guess that could mean that they are drivers for the printers on operating
systems set for English (US) or English (UK), but for some reason I read
that as implying "British."
