Using Word 7.0 on W95/NT. I've got a large master document which uses
"{ SEQ H1 /c }-{PAGE}" for page numbers in the footer where "H1" is the
Chapter number. The page numbers resolve to "1-1", "A-2", etc.

Is there a way to build a TOC using the TOC field code which will read
the field code sequence for my page numbers and insert that as the page
number in the table of contents?

I assume that what you want to do is put the full page numbers in your T
of C (and Index?) both of these fields have a \s switch that allows you
to add the result of a sequence field to each page number. At the end of
the TOC field, add the switch "\s H1" where H1 is the label for the SEQ
field. The online help has a good description - look under TOC field.
