Hi Diane

Do View > Header and Footer. Click the Format Page Number button (the one with the hand). Set page numbering to start at 1.

It that doesn't solve the problem, then there may be something strange with the field codes inserting the page number. Highlight all
the text in the footer and do Shift-F9 to expose the field codes. If it says { PAGE } then Word will display the page number. If it
says something like { = { PAGE } - 1 } then the document has been deliberately set up to display 1 less than the page number. In
that case, you would have to delete what's there, then use the Insert Page Number button to re-do it.

Hope this helps.

we've discovered that the logo graphics file was causing
this when converting old documents. deleting the logo in
re-inserting the graphics file fixed the page numbering -
weird huh?

Hi together!

I got the same problem in a Word XP document and found
that this happens when you change the text wrapping (e.g.
in front of the text, behind the text, ...) of the graphic.

Just fyi!

Thanks for your answers!
