Hi,

In word 97 I have a document which contains several other Word documents
(Insert - Object, display as icon)
Is it possible to print all documents at once without having to (manually)
open the attached documents

Thanks in advance

Ronald

Dear Ronald,

This one has come up in the newsgroup before, and I tried for ages to work
it out, but with no success I'm afraid. The only thing I could think of was
a VBA script, unless anyone else has any ideas...

I'm pretty sure that attachments do not exist as documents until they are
double clicked - whereby a temporary file is created, or saved.

Unless you open the document, or save it to a file, you cannot print it. In
any case, you should think very seriously about the implications of macro
borne viruses when opening Word documents sent to you by e-mail. While there
are some malicious people out there, most viruses are spread by the innocent
exchange of files.

I urge you to save the documents to disc, virus check them and then, if you
wish, you can select them from Explorer, right click and select print. This
will still run Word in order to translate the document to the printer.

Umm, I think we may have lost the thread here, Graham. He didn't say
anything about email. He said he had created a document with other documents
inserted as icons (Insert | Object | File | Display as icon). All of the
documents have thus originated in his own computer.

You are right. I've completely lost the plot. I can't imagine why I thought
we were referring to e-mail document attachments. I guess I need another
holiday!

No, no, no! Don't run off and leave us again! Just get a good night's sleep
and all will be right.

That's why I go away so often - I'm an insomniac. Thankfully you are there
to pick up the pieces when my brain has an aberration!
