Creating and printing booklets

I wish to create and print a booklet. I want to make my finished book A5, by
using the print 2 pages on an A4 landscape sheet. Printed both sides.

My problem is that when I come to print off my booklet, I have real problems
deciding what pages to print where so that I can read the book when folded,
ie pages 1, turned over to 2 etc etc. With only 4 full sheets and a lot of
head scratching I can just about work it out, (with a lot of wasted ink and
paper). Can anyone tell me an easy way of calculating what page numbers to
print where, so that my book will read in the correct order when printed and
folded together?? Perhaps a macro, or just a simple formulae may do.....

The pages you put together must add up to the total number of pages plus 1.
For example, for an eight-page booklet, you pair pages 1 and 8, 2 and 7,
