Hi

Not sure what you mean by the "shifted enter"

however, if you go into tools / customise and click the KEYBOARD button and
then in the "Press New Shortcut Key" box press the combination of keystrokes
you're interested in it will tell you the functionality that it is currently
assigned to

Hope this helps

Regards
Julie

Shift+Enter creates a 'linebreak' character, which is not the same as a
paragraph break. (Recall that the paragraph is the basic element of Word
formatting and styles.) A lot of things that can change from paragraph
to paragraph (indentation, spacing before/after, etc.) won't change if
a linebreak is used. The linebreak character is useful for (among other
things) tricking Word into doing what you want it to.

I'm assumig by "down arrow" you mean the bent arrow that appears on the
screen when you press Shift+Enter with nonprinting characters displayed,
because it's pretty impossible to get a serious result by pressing
Shift+Enter+DownArrowKey (down arrow cursor key, that is).

As Mark says, Shift+Enter allows you to begin a new line without beginning a
new paragraph, and it is represented on the screen (when nonprinting
characters are displayed) by a bent arrow. For more on nonprinting
characters, see http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm.
