I wanted to try Microsoft Word in order to write my Ph D. The basic
problem I have is the style of the installed fonts. If you look at a
written LaTex Document and a Word one, it's easy to see that the LaTex
one is easier to read as the letters are thinner and "prettier".
Here's a link to this point

Does anyone know where from could I download fonts that look like the
LaTex ones more or less?
Thanks, Pablo
I don't know what LaTex is, but I'm assuming some other Word Processing
package.
Most Windows applications that use fonts use True Type (TT) fonts (.TTF
files).
You do know that you can change the font that word uses?
Either use the Formatting toolbar (Tools -> Customise, Toolbars and make
sure Formatting is checked)
Or Format -> Font... and choose a different one.

Microsoft copied these fonts from professional printing companies,
but not with so good results...

Yes and not. It's better to say a Text Processing philosophy, where the
text and the format is introduced separately (in ASCII, you can edit
them in any system/computer). Then , you compile them into a .PDF, .PS
or similar file

Of course the do, but as commented, very poor in the quality, at least,
the Serif ones (like Times New Roman, originally called Times)

Well, sure. The problem is where from to DOWNLOAD a PRETTY Times FOnt
and install it on the computer without paying a lot of money.
