I had a "freeware" program that worked with Word 97 to
convert all typed fractions into the format that Word uses
for 1/2, 3/4, etc. Unfortunately I lost it when I
converted and cannot find it on the net.
How do I get Word 2000 to format all fractions in
the "small" format that it uses for 1/2, 3/4, etc?
Thanks

The article Graham referred you to is primarily a link to a KB article that
tells you how to build fractions using EQ fields. This is just one way to
create your own fractions; another way is to use the "fraction slash" (glyph
2215 in Unicode fonts or character 0164 in the Symbol font) in combination
with superscripted/subscripted numbers. You can also create complex
fractions using the Equation Editor.

But if you have updated Unicode fonts, you'll find that most of them contain
the glyphs for 1/3, 2/3, 1/8, 3/8, 5/8, and 7/8 as what are sometimes called
"shilling fractions" (with a slanted line), that is, the same style as the
1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 glyphs. You'll find these in the Number Forms subset in
Insert Symbol, and you can create AutoText or AutoCorrect entries from them.
If you decide on AutoCorrect and ever use the M/d or d/M date format, I'd
suggest you *not* use 1/3, 2/3, etc., as the text to be replaced. Instead,
choose an easily remembered combination of letters and numbers that will not
be encountered in running text.
