Comparing documents with footnotes

Hi there,

I'm trying to use merge to compare two documents, both with footnotes.
This is for legal review, I need to document the exact changes from
one version to the next.

When I do a compare, it shows me the changes in the main text
perfectly. Life is good.

What I can't see are the changes in the footnotes. The compare feature
seems to think that ALL footnotes are new, and marks them as such in
the comparison. What I really want is the differences, not the whole
footnote.

Any tricks/ideas?
