Is that the answer? or is there more that will not show up.
If that is the answer, what does </form mean?
I'm not trying to be awkward but I'm new to this and it
seems such an obvious procedure that Office whould have
set the thing to 'Auto' to begin with.

Use the envelope and label wizard to add an 'envelope' to a document. Click
in the addressee section and then format > style - the Envelope Address
style will be selected. Then modify > format > frame and change the height
to 'auto'. OK you way out and on route check the 'add to template' box.
Suzanne's suggestion was -
1. Display the Styles and Formatting task pane.
2. At the bottom, change the display to All Styles.
3. Select Envelope Address (not easy since it's half-hidden).
4. Press the arrow button to open the dropdown list and choose Modify.
5. In the Modify Style dialog, choose Format: Frame.
6. Change the height from "Exactly" to "At least."
7. OK however many times it takes to get out of all the dialogs.
which achieves the same thing.
