I've Googled this topic and found dozens of people asking for this but no solution. How do I type a zero-width optional break in Word on a Mac?

This is a character that you can insert in e.g. a URL so that it will break the line there if needed. On the PC version of Word, you just go Insert > Advanced Symbol > Special Characters, but it's missing from the list on Mac. It's alt code 8203.

Try moving the cursor through the URL to the spot where you want to insert a line break and hit SHIFT + ENTER. The text should move to the next line without messing up the URL.

They still haven't put this into Word on macOS. The correct solution is to go to macOS's "Show Emoji & Symbols," go down to Unicode at the bottom of the sidebar, scroll to row 2000, and double-click that row under the B column to insert the character ZERO WIDTH SPACE.

I had to do this once today, so I know it works. You can probably set an autocorrect for this in Word, but I haven't tried that.
