Word Quits in OS X

Greetings,

Using a 6 month old MacBook Pro, the Word quits completely and unexpectedly
(no 'do you want to save'). It's happening, at times, every few seconds.

Is this a known problem, perhaps an incompatibility with other software, or
is there a way to stop this from happening??
