I Installed new Arabic fonts to my windows XP. After I
load MS Word, I see the new fonts with the other fonts
BUT when I load the Insert Symbols Option I don't see
them!! WHY? Saying this I should mention that I have MS
Word 2000 installed on my PC and on my OLD PC I used to
have MS Word 97 BUT NO PROBLEM (I used to see the SAME
fonts I don't see now in the Symbols Options).
Can someone tell me what's going on please?!

Umm when I double click the font it self, I get some
english words written in different sizes!! I really don't
think that anything is wrong with the font because I used
it with MS word 97 and I used to see it under SYMBOLS and
was fine. BUT with MS Word 2000 I CAN'T even see it under
SYMBOLS any more!
If you are wondering why do I need the font under symbol,
i'll tell you. Many imaging editors like PHOTOIMPACT
don't support arabic and just regular typing would make
the word appear as ONLY letters (not connected) so I trik
the program by typing in word using symbols then pasting
it there and YEP it appears fine :)

Gosh sorry for the lengthy message, I really hope you can
help me and thank you sooooo much for your first response.
Regards,

Again, could you try looking at a font that treats Arabic as regular Arabic,
and then look at one of the built-in symbol fonts like WingDings?

Both of them look right to me from both Windows CharMap and the "Insert
Symbols" dialog in Word. If those two situations above work for you then the
problem clearly has more to do with this other font you are using.

Hi Sara,

You could also try to type or paste the font's name into the font box of
the "Insert > Symbol" dialog.

Or format some text in the font, and with the cursor in the Arabic font,
open the dialog. The font box should show "(normal text)" -- which should
better read "(current font)" --, and you should see the characters that are
available in the font.

Word2000 doesn't show all fonts in this dialog, but only those that Word
expects to contain "symbols" (= symbol fonts and large Unicode fonts).

Greetings,
Klaus
