Urgent! Page numbers problem

Hello,

I'm desperately seeking for help with my word document.
My boss badly needs it.

My problem is that with the headers and footers, my odd
and even page numbering acts weired. With the odd page
numbering, the order is ok but the even pages have a
constant number, let say page 16 remains constant. so
instead of shoeing page 18 it still shows 16 all
throughout the document.

Please, help me. I'm using word 97. Thanks a lot in
advance.

It sounds to me as if you've got different odd and even headers/footers and
someone has typed a plain-text page number into the even ones.
