Whenever I generate a table of contents, it appears on two lines, over
extending the distance between the chapter name and page. How can limit it
to one line?

Sameh,

When you generate your table of contents, make sure you
select From Template in the formats dropdown. This
provides you the ability to modify the TOC levels using
the style formatting of your choice. Set the paragraph
spacing, tabs etc., Save and close.
