how do i open a word document in a web browser?

i have a letterhead that i have created to make business cards from. i cannot
however open this file from a web browser and need to find out how to.

You can't and you can -- at the same time. Browsers don't really show Word
documents as what you'd call a natively displayable object, like text, JPEG
graphics, etc.

If you link to a .doc on a server and your browser understands it, it (the
browser) may "send" it to Word to open. But in any case it's not really
being opened in the browser, per se.
