Hi Everyone,

I am having a problem with my MS Word 2003 inserting a picture as a
background/watermark. When I insert the picture all works well, but when I
go and print it to a color printer the background picture appears like it is
washed out even though I have validated that the "washout" checkbox is
UNCHECKED. The funny thing is when I go into edit Header/Footer where I can
edit/move/size the picture it comes back to it's natural color; when I leave
the edit mode the picture looks more washed out again. In my picture it's a
simple company logo in a purple color but when printed it comes in more like
a violet.

What am I missing or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks!

Make sure the "Semitransparent" box is unchecked in Format | Background |
Printed Watermark.

Format/Background/Printed Watermakr the option for "semitransparent" is only
under a "text" watermark. I have a picture watermark so that doesn't seem to
help but thanks for the help.

Any other ideas?

Well, it was a long shot. <g> I once had a document where the header graphic
both displayed dimmed in Print Preview and printed that way, despite being
full intensity in the header itself. My assumption was that the document was
corrupt; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm

Hi Richard -

It seems the norm for Print Preview as well as Print Layout View is to
display the faded effect unless the image is formatted as In Line with Text.
However, it should still *print* in full color regardless of the Text
Wrapping style.

Could there possibly be a printer setting that might cause the faded effect?
Some sort of Color Management feature, perhaps? (If the printer has a
watermark feature it may assume that any graphic on the H/F be treated as
such.. I'm just guessing here :)) Have you checked for an update for the
print driver? How's your ink level?
