Can any one help please?
MS Draw v 1.01 is a most useful drawing program for drawing simple isometric
sketches of packaging material diagrams, such as boxes, cans etc., but I
need to convert these drawings into separate files for import into a VB
custom program as .wmf files.
Is there any way of doing this?
I am currently trialling AutoSketch to draw the same simple diagrams. You
wouldn't believe the strife I'm having with AutoSketch!!!!

Hi Geoff,

Generally, the MS Draw 98 add-in for Word 97 and Word 2000 is still
Draw v 1.01 <g>. Are you trying to work with drawings that are in
a Word docuement or in some format saved separately? If you have
them in a Word 2000 file and Save as Web page you should see a
file with supporting files in it and the drawings would have .WMZ
file extensions. Those are zipped copies of the .WMF files, stored
there to reuse on opening the webpage in Word, as WMFs don't
have web browser support. If you open one with winzip it will
ask you the file name for the .WMF as it stores them with
.WM.
as the file extensions.

I know this is 2014. I searched on the web for solution to this problem. I found various post but no solution. So I'll post my solution in all the forum to help future reader.

to install msdraw 1.01

Download an installation (.iso) of works 4.5. The key is not needed since you will not install it.
Mount the iso in virtual cdrom or burn it.

In the folder "Common Files/microsoft shared" create a folder named msdraw and
copy to it the folloing files from the iso w45 installation:
MSDRAW.EXE, MFCANS32.DLL,MFCUIA32.DLL
(Optionally you can copy also all the other files named msdraw.*)

Then, run msdraw.exe. It will not start but it will register its self.

I succesfully test this method with xp, win 7 and win 8.
office 2007 and 2010.

sincerely
