I often reference the same article several times, however, using endnotes in
word it generates a new number each time it is referenced. For example, I'll
reference Article A, and it will be #1 on the endnote list. Later on in the
document, if I reference it again it just generates the next number in the
sequence and repeats the article. How can I have multiple #1's in the
document so the endnotes aren't clutter with 20 listings of the same article?

Use a cross-reference to the endnote.
