Is there any way to insert a pdf file into word but have it display the
document instead of embedding it?

Thanks.

Use the select-and-copy tool in Adobe Reader (if the PDF's author hasn't
forbidden it), and paste into the Word document.

Alternatively, use one of the dozens of PDF-to-Word converters you'll find
on the Internet to make a Word file, and then use Word's Insert > Text From
File command.

If you have version 7 or Adobe Reader or above you can insert a one page PDF
as an object. Objects cannot span pages so if your PDF is longer than one
page it will need breaking up into individual pages.
