Hello,

I want to display print margins in preview to correct for the margin
error I am getting for a page that I print. How can I do that? Thank You.

Hi Athena,

Word doesn't have the same feature as Excel for dragging the margins.
In print preview you can use Show Ruler if you don't want to use the
'Page Setup' choices in Print Preview.

The 'outside the printable area' message is coming from the Printer driver to Word to you. It can come from a conflict between what
you have set in Word and the printer (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904805) but is more often from trying to print to the edge of
the page past the minimum margins of the page in your printer properties. When you get the error message and click 'ignore' Word
will pass the document to the printer per your document settings. If you choose 'Fix' the margins are set to what the printer
driver is telling Word it needs for the minimum margins.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for the detailed help. It is sad that Word does not show
margins to see the problem. This margin conflict between Word and the
printer is always a problem. At the end whatever the cause, it works, but
one has always has to wait to click on the margin error message to be able
to print.

Then you should adjust the margins in either Word (Page Setup) or the
Print dialog or both so that they are compatible. Be sure also to
check the paper size -- maybe Word is set to Letter and the printer to
A4?
