I'm trying to copy text from one (Word) document to another (Word) document.

But when I paste the text into the new document, I lose the formatting of
the original document. How come? I've tried all of the "Paste Special"
options but the "new" version of the text always looks different from the
original.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

This happen to me once when I was trying to copy a template. My fix was to
create a table and paste the data within (keep table in same document to save
format. And then copy cell to the new word document. Or try converting the
text to a table. 1. Table drop down menu 2. convert text to table. Thats all
that I can think of for pasting.

You could try saving the file and reopening in the new word. (might have to
change extension)

I hope this works for you.
