Remove Text Boxes, keep the text

Some Pdf-to-Word/RTF converters produce documents with hundreds of text
boxes that each contain a piece of the text.

Rather than laboriously extracting their content one box at a time, is
there a way to automatically remove all the boxes and keep the text (I'm
using Word 2003) ?

If they're really text boxes, your best bet is a macro, but if in fact
they're frames, then Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Q will usually remove them (since a frame
is part of paragraph formatting and Ctrl+Q will remove it unless it's
defined in the paragraph style). In either case, however, the text box or
frame is going to be anchored to an ordinary text paragraph, and the order
of the paragraphs when text boxes or frames are removed will depend on the
order in which they were anchored. This can mean that the text will become
jumbled.

If they are in fact text boxes, and if you have Word 2003 or earlier, you
have one option that is not available in Word 2007 or 2010. On the Text Box
tab of the Format Text Box dialog, there is an option to Convert to Frame.
Once you've converted the text box to a frame, you can remove it as above.
If you had to do this for every text box, that wouldn't be very helpful,
but, as it happens, once you've done one, you can select another and press
F4 (Repeat), then another, F4, and so on until you're done. Once all the
text boxes have been converted to frames, then Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Q will remove
them.

None of the above methods worked for me. I found a solution that works if you have Adobe Acrobat.

Save the Word document as a PDF. Choose "Save as", "More options", "Rich text format". Save. Open the RTF document. If everything looks good, save it as a Word document.

This is the solution I have been waiting for - SAVE AS RTF!!! In my case I unticked the settings option to "include comments". Voila! a simple PDF with tables converted to a format I can use with WORD without 1000s of annoying text boxes. No more converting, no more messed up layout as I remove text boxes. No more text boxes inside table cells.

I have a rtf report generated by Family Tree Maker that I'm trying to edit in Word. Every individual word in the body of the report seems to be in their own text box. I can't edit text as it just disappears if I add it to a small text box. I've tried a bunch of stuff here and nothing works.

The Ctrl+A / Ctrl+Q removed ALL formatting. This report is "Register Style"/ Outline format.. so I lost all of that.

I downloaded the Kutools but when I try to use that.. it says "Removed 0 text boxes" I tried highlighting entire doc.. still says no text boxes, no frames.. tried them all.

I tried saving the rtf as a doc then closing and opening in Word.. still there. Every word is outlined by a dotted line if I put the cursor in it. ANY ideas.. very frustrating!!

Try Ctrl-Shift-Z to remove font formatting from whatever is highlighted???
(It puts the text into the format of the current Style.,)

if you can cut it to a few sample lines and post here the source "as it is"
(it's text) maybe the group can try something different to get rid of those

sorry, I explain better:

open the RTF document with *notepad*, so formatting codes are kept as text,
then copy and paste into your newsreader

save that PDF as microsoft doc

I just went down the list of different formats saving it until I found this one worked for me. Shocker. microsoft cant make anything just........ easy

Merajut Hati mengetahui faktor struktural yang memungkinkan untuk menghindarkan seseorang dari mendapat bantuan dan bekerja untuk meminimalisir halangan tersebut.
