how do I arrange word document items in alphabetical order?

I want to arrange a list of items in alphabetical order with out doing them
one at a time

If the list comprises a number of items one to a line separated by a
paragraph mark, select the list then table > sort.
If the list is in some other format, use replace to make the list one item
to a paragraph, sort the list then, use replace to restore the original
layout.

Use the Sort command. In Word 2007, you'll find the option on the Home tab,
in the Paragraph group. In Word 97-2003 the option is on the Table menu.
