I would like to change the default print settings to 'Fast Draft' for all
documents I open in Word (2002).

This can be set in Tools, Options, Print, Draft Output. This should be
automatically saved by Word to you personal settings on your PC and will stay
until you change it. Or set your default settings for the printer under
Printers and Faxes, Printer Properties, but this will be for all applications
not just Word. This is for 2003, am not sure about 2002, can you confirm that
this is still applicable. Thanks
Hope this helps

Many thanks - the your second solution works fine - and I'm happy for all
applications to be set as 'Draft' default. But - the first option only
remained set temporarily for that document for that session....
