In Word where do I locate my recycling bin to retrieve a document or make
sure it is definitely deleted and cannot be accessed again?

How did you delete it? The recycle bin is not unique to Word, it is part of
the Windows file system. To locate it, use Windows Explorer.

Doug, please forgive my ineptitude, but how do I get to Windows Explorer?

It depends on your version of Windows although the default is to have an
icon for recycle bin on the desktop. If you have Windows XP, click the
start button and then follow 'All Programs > Accessories > Windows
Explorer'. An alternate approach would be to click 'Start > Run", type
"explorer" without the quotes and press the 'Enter' key.

Once you get Explorer, look for the recycle bin near the bottom of the drive
and folder list in the left pane.
