When I insert a picture in MS Word 2007 or PowerPoint 2007, save and close
the file. When I re-open the file a border apear on the top and left of the
picture. It only happens once you have closed the application and re-opend it.
Please help.

Yes - I have the solution !!!
Right click on the picture. Then go to "Format Picture..."
Then choose "3-D format". In that folder make sure that the depth and the contour color is white.
If it still doesn't work use the crop tool. Left click on the image, that you will have "Format" ribbon. On the right side of the Format ribbon you will see the crop tool. Use it to crop the line.... These solutions solved my problem. I hope it will solve yours.
Good luck

For pictures that are filled to the edge, both solutions don't work well, unfortunatly.
Cropping is then no option, because I lose a part of the picture.
And when I set the 3-D format settings to white, then a small edge of the picture is lost. So the curves at the edge of the picture get a small straight edge. That doesn't look good as well. I hope there is another solution. I'll keep trying to find one.

Extract the image from Word, take it into Paint, erase the lines.

I've spent the evening preparing a presentation for my most important client, the ABC Television Network. None of the suggested solutions above work. My presentation is ruined. Microsoft has had three years to fix this problem. Do they not beta test their products before they sell them? This is unacceptable. I'll be redoing the whole project using Adobe InDesign...a program that actually works as advertised. Not a happy customer here.

This was happening to me & eventually I tried resaving my image in a
number
of different ways.

I had originally been using an image at 300ppi resolution. When I resampled my
image to 150ppi & used that instead, no unwanted borders appeared on the
top
& left sides. (All my images were sRGB jpegs saved at maximum quality.)

I hope this helps!
