I want to open a word 2.0 file by Word 2000 or Word XP, but fail. Word 2000
and Word XP cannot convert the file to a readable file. How can I open it
successfully ?

Try opening the files with WordPad.

If you turn on the setting for
'confirm conversions on open' in Tools=>Options=>General
what file type does Word show when you use File=>Open?

In Word 2000 the ability to open MS Word for Windows v2
files is built in.

In Word 202 the Word v2 converter is an 'install on first use'
converter, but you can also install it manually from the Office XP/
Word 2002 listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel
