Word 2.0c won't display fonts in pulldown menus on Windows 3.1

I have tried several times to install Word 2.0c on Windows 3.1, but each time
Word will not display font names and sizes in its pulldown menus. Is there a
fix or workaround for this? I've tried using font pathnames in Win.ini, but
this has not worked.

Excel and Powerpoint have had no problems displaying font data, so this
looks more like a Word 2.0c defect than a Windows 3.1 glitch.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm amazed that anyone has a functional Win 3.1 system these days.

I never used Word that far back, but I suspect it responds to the same issue
as more recent versions. Word will only display fonts that the active
printer driver is capable of printing.
http://www.gmayor.com/where_are_my_fonts.htm is aimed at later versions, but
covers the issue.

I have not hooked-up my printer yet. Looks like that's my problem. Thanks.

It doesn't have to be physically attached, just have a driver
installed for any graphics-capable printer.
