I haven't seen this myself, but it *could* be a sign of font corruption. Have
you tried reinstalling the font? (It is included with several versions of
Windows and Word; see http://www.microsoft.com/typography).

I am having some odd character spacing issues with this font as well. Here is a screenshot in MS Word: http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/scrybbler/media/temp/Trebuchet-word-spacing_zpsf0101319.png.html

As you can see, it's left justified and looks like it's badly full-justified. There are NO extra spaces in that sentence. It actually looks better when full-justified.

No, I didn't write that lousy sentence either :)

may be it depends on the printer.
Also check "File | Options | Advanced | Display | Optimize character
positioning for layout rather than readability":
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/word-options-advanced-HA010164017.aspx
(Select this option to display character positioning accurately, as it will
appear in the printed document with respect to blocks of text. Spacing
between characters may be distorted when this option is turned on. For best
readability on the screen, turn this option off.)
