Yes, unfortunately it is too much to ask. :-(

You can rotate an AutoShape but if it contains text the text will not
be rotated. It works in PowerPoint but not Word.

A workaround for this issue in Word is to use WordArt.

Provided you don't want to edit the text later, you can do this in Word
fairly simply - see http://www.gmayor.com/rotate_text.htm

Yes word art is the answer or use Microsoft Visio and then if required save
in a Word Format.
