Here is a question that the MS-MVPs must have encountered
many times:

Are there any recommended utilities available that would
allow a user to conduct a sophisticated Boolean search
within a very long MS Word 97 document? Ideally, I would
like to be able to use features comparable to those within
Westlaw: words that must appear in the same sentence; or
within the same paragraph; or within x number of words
from each other in any order; or within x number of words
in a specified order; or words that must not appear; etc.
These features should be able to be strung together with
multiple embedded parenthesis to construct complex
searches.

Any suggestions?

Hi David,

Take a look at the article "Finding and replacing characters using
wildcards"

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/UsingWildcards.htm

It's probably not what you are looking for, but with a bit of ingenuity, you
can do some amazing things with them.

Please post any response to the newsgroups for the benefit of others who may
also be following the thread.

Hope this helps,
