I need to use letters instead of numbers to mark paragraph and lines.
Unfortunately I have to do this manually as Word 'appears to' allow only
numbers or bullets for this function.

Any solution?

For a quick fix:
Format | Bullets and Numbering | Numbered and pick a letter style or
customize a style of your own.

For a better way (explained in the article itself):

You can have letters if you want them - format > bullets & numbering >
numbered.

Go to format on MSWord toolbar.
Click Bullets and Numbering.
Click on the tab named Numbered.
Select the A, B, C, option.
