The page orientation should change if you go to File/Page Setup and
select Landscape.

Is there a reason you are using a Generic/Text only printer driver?

Since Word uses the printer driver to obtain printable areas, fonts,
etc It's best to install the printer driver for the printer you're
likely to use to print your documents. You don't have to have a
physical printer present to install the driver.
